I am having so much fun with Susan B. Anderson's book, Itty Bitty Toys. It's filled with adorable toys that are simply and ingeniously constructed. This little birdy toy set knit up very quickly with easy to follow pattern instructions. The egg/bird is one of those reversible toys that little children love..first it's an egg, then it's a bird--magic!
I used the rcommended yarn: O-Wool Balance in Agate, Natural, and Opal. It's the first time I've used this yarn, and I LOVE it. It reminds me a bit of Brown Sheep Co.'s Cotton Fleece, only it has more of a hand-spun quality to it, and it is lusciously soft in a 50% merino/50% cotton blend. I have plenty of yarn left over to knit at least another bird set, maybe even two.
It has been very mild outside the last few days. I've been sleeping with my bedroom window slightly open, and the last two mornings I awoke to birdsong. The robins are back--hooray!
