I've been knitting up lots of green things. This set is for L. The earflap hat was knit from a pattern called, "Kim's Hats" from the book Last Minute Knitted Gifts. The mittens were knit from an old Yankee Knitter pattern called "Pattern Mittens". Yankee Knitter patterns are favorites of mine--classic designs, well-constructed, and easy to follow; I highly recommend them. I used a really inexpensive yarn called Stitch Nation Alpaca Love color Fern--$4.99 for 85g ball, because I knew that this hat and mitten set would get lots of use playing out in the snow. The yarn was a bit stiff on the needles, but softened nicely upon blocking. The photo doesn't really capture the true color, which has a bit more yellow to it...kinda Shrek green. It coordinates perfectly with L's winter coat.
Now I've got a pair of khaki green socks on my needles for S. I'm a quarter of the way through the second sock, so I'll be posting pictures soon!
